There are 3 routes you can take to receive child support. First, ask the other parent. Generally, this isn’t effective, but it is always appropriate to ask before going through the expense of legal action.
Second, you can request the Division of Child Support Services to establish a child support order on your behalf. You can find more information about this process by visiting http://dcss.dhs.georgia.gov.
Third, if a Petition for Divorce or Legitimation has been filed, the child support will be set during the temporary hearing.
