Doug earned his B.A. and J.D. degrees from Mercer University, located in Macon, Georgia. He officially became a member of the Georgia Bar in 1988, and he has dedicated over two decades of his career to the practice of law in Newnan.

Doug holds membership in several esteemed legal associations, including the Newnan-Coweta Bar Association, the State Bar of Georgia, the American Trial Lawyers Association, and the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association. Notably, he served as the Chairman for the Coweta County Indigent Defense Counsel from 1993 to 1995, showcasing his commitment to the legal profession.
